Hello,

Recently, I've been using MoI3D to create 3D versions of logos.
During this process, I wanted to create gradient-filled icons using the same paths.
However, when I saved the path in .ai format and tried to open it in Affinity Designer v1, only a frame was displayed instead of the path.
I also tried opening it in INKSCAPE, but I encountered an error.
The software and OS I'm currently using are MoI v4.0, Affinity Designer v1.9.2.1035, INKSCAPE 0.92, and Windows 7.
And, I don't have Adobe Illustrator.

I would greatly appreciate any advice or suggestions. Thank you.

Each drawing inside Affinity is also a curve so editable ;)

Yes, It is a closed curve. It is created by freeform.

closed curves or not from MOi are present in Affinity :)

Of course these are "projected on a plane" of your 3D drawing from MOi!

The AI file format is an Adobe Illustrator format, right?
I figured since I have the output in AI, I could pass along the information that makes up the path.

I am trying to do something like this.
What I am dealing with is 2D path information.

You can make the same than your "M" with the PDF format more versatile! ;)

I didn't think it was possible to pass the path info in PDF.
I've only tried it in simple shapes, but I think it will allow me to do what I want to do. :)

The AI format written from MoI is for an older version of Adobe Illustrator which isn't supported by either Affinity Designer or Inkscape.

So for export to those programs use PDF format instead, AI and PDF are similar and each can contain path information in them.

Also the v5 beta (https://moi3d.com/beta.htm) adds support for SVG format which is probably the best for transfer to Inkscape.

This is the first time I learned that a PDF can hold path information like an AI file. I'm looking forward to version 5.

By the way, when creating logos, I often need to align the center of the reference image with the center of the grid.
It would be very helpful to have an option or a snapping feature to automatically make this alignment.

Maybe like that ?

Yes, When positioning the image, a message saying "pick image base point" is displayed.
At this point, unless the mouse snaps to the center of the image,
I have to manually select a point near the center. However, this might not be accurate.



While some images make it easy to identify the center, this is not always the case.
Even if there is no snap feature available, having a cross line drawn on the image like the one shown in light blue this time can be helpful.

Use the construction lines (and its Mid point) as in this example with align function of image.

(not shown on the video just a try because there is no snap for helper lines on the corner image in 3D space... ;)

When you are in the View > Image command, you can drag on images to reposition them and if you start the drag by grabbing near a corner or the center it will snap on to those as the base point for the move.

You'll see a tag appear like this:

The "Align" function is for a different purpose, to map a line in the image with a line in model space.

For what you want, don't go into the Align sub-tool just drag starting from near the center while you are running in the Image command.
