Constraints

Dear Mr Micheal Gibson,

Are you going to introduce constraints in 3DMoi v5?

It is crucial to have them because they are very useful for making things perfectly.

3DMoi will have more script commands in the future that you can implement in the system.

It would be nice to see commands in the sub-divisions as well. The angles of the dimensions can be modified when needed to suit your needs.

I am so grateful to you for creating this amazing software called 3DMoi.

Hi Ray, sorry no I don't expect for constraints to be implemented in MoI in the v5 timeframe.

There is a lot of other CAD software out there that is focused on that already, you might want to check out Alibre or SolveSpace .

Thank you all

I thought that one day the constraints will be part of this amazing 3DMoi software.

Anyway, thanks again.

Hi RayCAD1962,

I am a two years user of MOI. Before I used Solidworks and on the early days of using MOI I started to miss constraints! However, as time went by I realized more and more the philosophy behind creation of MOI. Currently I think there were several key points in the mind of it's creator and one of them is to provoke smart thinking! I realized "smart thinking" is part of MOI and that is one more reason which makes MOI more lovely. My little advice for you: try to adopt this "smart thinking" and you will begin to see that you do not really needed those fancy constraints!

Finally, if you face some examples you think they could be solved with constraints, step forth and share your challenge! I am sure good folks here are able to provide you a solution; MOI way!

And Yes as Frenchy mentioned you can use Onshape, I used Onshape to create some boundary faces/ fill faces MOI currently cannot -to create some seamless faces- and these are the features I would be super happy to see in upcoming versions of MOI but I trust @Michael and his vision. :-)

Dear Psygorn (DRILLBIT),

What you say to me makes sense to me, and I also understand what you are saying.

During the past 10 years, I have been teaching AutoCAD 2D and 3D to evening classes and full-time Education students, and AutoCAD has its own limitations.

Now 3DMoi makes it easy for me to create my creations. In the Gallery collection, you can see them.

Thanks for the advice and I hope the next 3D Moi v5 will be just as good as the previous ones.

Thanks again.
