Hi, tried to make a sweep along that two splines. They are the corsett of my ribbon. I tried to rebuild the splines. But the result is not pretty good.
Are there solutions to stay as near as possible to the shape and avoid the spaghetti...?!

Hi,

Your problems appears in corner zone.
You could test using scripts to avoid corners.

The first is ReconstructCurve with a significative number of points to have a very near curve of yours.

The second is DelCorner. As its name says, it delete the corners...

You can find where you have to download them reading the main page of the ressource wiki.

Hi Mala, those pieces that poke out on the sweep are places where the path has a sharp corner in it instead of being tangent smooth.

When there is a sharp corner sweep will try to construct mitered corners by extending the sweep surfaces on either side of the sharp corner and intersecting them with each other. That corner mitering process can be difficult when performed on a non planar path.

So the main way to fix it would be to tune up the rail curve so that it's all smooth instead of having sharp corners in it.

Hi Mala, here is a version with the path curve edited so that the endpoint and first interior points on either side of a segment's end are all on the same line so the path is smooth throughout.

This version shouldn't generate any miter extension pieces anymore.

Thx phiro!
I cannot initiate it. Thought it would work like for example Tab - rebuild command.
I took both files into the command folder. But I´ve got that message...
(I do not often implement the scripts...)

you must install the plugin! ;)

Normally 2 or one files to unzip if they are zipped (named by their command functions) to install in the Moi folder commands

It is one zipped folder, with two files.
I put the decompressed files into command folder. As I mentioned before.
Something wrong here?

Is it a plugin or a script? I got the message: Command DelCorners not found. Might be a plug-in is not installed"
And is a script initiated with the tab or as a command with, in my case ctrl+D...

Hi Mala, I don't remember exactly why but many of Max's scripts begin with an underscore "_" character at the start.

If you look closely at the files that you are copying you'll probably see they are actually named _DelCorners.htm and _DelCorners.js - note leading underscore _ character.

So when those files are copied into MOI's commands folder there will be a new command named _DelCorners available to use. The name you are using is missing the underscore _ character. That's why you're getting the error.

“”””””” I don't remember exactly why but many of Max's scripts begin with an underscore "_" character at the start.”””””””

It was used by the custom UI mechanism to separate out his commands from native commands.

The custom UI can read the underscore for grouping/display.
