Hi Forum. Anybody have suggestions on how to take a relatively simple 3D shape ( e.g. rectangular solid ) and output 2D views with auto-generated overall dimensions ? I understand I can add dimensions to a drawing in MoI but I'm looking to automate several and I'm guessing there is another tool that can this with adequate results for my needs. I really just need outside dimensions. Thank you, Sven.

Hi Sven, there is a script here that will put aligned dims on lines, maybe that will help?

In general though it's intended in Moi that dims go where you place them, they are not automatically placed.

Yes that's how dimensions in drafting work, they measure distance on a projected plane.

If you work with the 4 views, the dimensioning is very easy and fast.
You can even add keyboard shortcuts to call the DIM functions
