Could be a long shot here, but does anyone know of a tool/script/command in v3 that will allow you to select an object (or more practically multiple objects) and replace it/them with another one?
Preferably one that will recognize axial alignments :)

Hi Raven, sorry no I don't know of anything that would do that.

I do want to work on an "instancing" mechanism for doing that kind of thing.

Hey Michael - thanks for the quick reply :)
Yep I thought that might be a bit of a reach - not something I need very often but would be really handy on the odd occasion - 100 years ago when I was using Bryce, it had something similar which was great for setting up a scene quickly with place-holders (say, just a cube) and then replacing them with the actual objects for the final render

I'll put it on the wish list! :)

Bounding Box Center Multiple by Michael

+ VClone by Max SMirnov can do that! ;) (and the length's vector can give orientation & size of the object "remplaced" ;)

or + Copy to Points By Michael if you don't need size & orientation
