Changing Dim Arc inplace

Dear all,

Could you please tell me how to change or edit the Left arc radius dimensions drawing to the one in the Right sketch drawing while leaving them intact?

There is a Smart Dimensions command in Solidworks that allows you to do this.

Thank you and hope there is a solution for it because helps other users too.

Hi RayCAD1962,

Could u please provide more info? what limitations u have?
U want the curves to be tangent?

please fully define what u want.

Edit: I was able to create what u see below. However, I don't think it is what u want.

@Psygorn (DRILLBIT)

I would appreciate it if you could tell me how you accomplish this.

I do a lot of things, but sometimes something happens and I get stuck on a simple thing.

However, what you showed me is good for me. The question I would like to know is how you came up with this solution. I would also like to know the method you use when changing the radius dimensions in place.

Thanks again.

Hi RayCAD1962,

Well here is one way you can do that (I apologize for my typo and scientifically speaking errors such as not mentioning -> unit of measurement) :

However, I still feel u should be more specific with what you want.

Well for any case of precise modeling, you should know what you are going to do or make in other words you have to have a pre-plan; then by relying on one of the oldest and sweetest sciences (Geometry) you can do the job. The more Geometrical knowledge you gain, the more it will be helpful to u. ( keep in mind you don't need to become Heron of Alexandria or Pythagoras or Euclid to be able to do those tasks, you can learn Geometry along the way by doing your daily designing work and in my experience knowing some simple things such as how to find tangent lines, tangent circles, etc will do the job)

Hi,

my 2 cents...

Construct the vertical line of 92,0 A
Construct the horizontal of 19.08 B

Construct the pink line (C) with 38,00 length from left point of sgment B and touching segment A

Construct a circle with radius 38 and center the bottom end of C
Construct a circle with radius 66 (38+28) and center the bottom end of C

This last circle cut the axis. The point generated with axis and last circle permits to construct a circle with 28 for radius tangent to the other circle.

you say arcs but what about of the other lines/curves... ? 19.8 and 92...they were in the start figure ?
They don't change ? So it's drawing under constraint ?
Better if you send your start piece! :)

Thank you so much for your generosity for what I asked you gave me your solution.

I don't have words to say but THANK YOU so much. You are a good teacher indeed.

Where it's said on the first post that the 2 Arcs circles must be tangent ? :)
Without more infos...there are an infinite number of solutions! :)

Hi RayCAD1962,

Do not mention it :-) I just shared with you what I knew.

However, as PILOU says, you should be more specific with constraints you want. Otherwise there would be number of possibilities (sometimes infinite)

@Psygorn (DRILLBIT)
@Frenchy Pilou (PILOU)

I like to share this YouTube video from where I so these changing of dimensions with easy method that I like to see it in 3Dmoi if it is possible.

Follow the video and you will see what I am talking about especially when changing the values of each arc and lines too.

Your method is helpful but this is more easy to be used when you need it.

Video link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xu8iiDUZhFQ

Hope you understand what I am looking for.

Thanks again both of you.
