I'm so easily amused....

I had this bird sitting around and decided to see if it really DID bounce.

Imported into the new Sim Lab from Tinkercad.

I actually see how this might be useful in a design class. But, even if not, it's downright fun.

Dat Bird dont bounce!

Maybe adding a spring in the base or since birds flap, reducing Gravity to some extent may create bouncy bird!

I dont think Simlab sim has the concept of “materials” as part of the physics, but i have an older version a few steps back. Maybe i need to upgrade!

I'll have to try out this tinkercad-sim-lab.

From the site:
https://www.tinkercad.com/blog/tinkercad-sim-lab

"Materials will behave differently in your simulation by affecting your shapes’ weight, bounciness, and ability to slide when in contact. They will also..."

Here is a new video that demonstrates the use of Moment of Inspiration objects in Tinkercad Simlab. I think you will enjoy it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7n4X2zN9gks

While I teach Tinkercad in some of my local classes to very young students, I find it MUCH easier to create in Moment of Inspiration.

This video made use of the strengths of both.

Tom

PS. I will check out the 2D animator too!

Lack of a bounce reaction is definitely a bummer.

The real tragedy is that many years ago there were at least two easy-to-use 3D animations options that did give us some dynamic feel.

I used Ulead's Cool3D until Corel bought it and killed it off.

But, my absolute favorite was an application by the creator of Onshape.

It was called Cosmic Blobs (for kids) and CB Model Pro (for older users) and had a built-in animation capability.

Unfortunately, I can't import anything into Cosmic Blobs. But, it sure is fun.

Here is a short demo of Cosmic Blobs with a sponge chasing jellyfish.
