So it's not a volume 3D just a 2D plan lines?

So I must try it!

HIHI it's true volume! Works fine! The curious struture is given by a TopMod Model ;(so many facets are in double)

With the convector inside Moi : a sort of Helpers lines in 3D ;)

You can use it for make some plan facettes ;)

Great! Thanks Pilou and knightxor for testing it.

At least now there is some method to bring polygon data in.

Hi guys!

This is great. Any way to control scale?

Hi Michael, there's nothing built in to the converter to control the scale, it's pretty bare bones.

But you can scale it to whatever size you want inside of MoI - one easy way is to use File / Import to bring the .3dm file in - when you use Import instead of Open, the objects that are read in will be selected. So then they are all ready to use the Transform / Scale command.

After you run Scale, some shortcuts are to type in "0" and push enter to use the origin as the scaling point, and then type in your scale factor like 0.1 for 1/10 scale, and push enter. That should go pretty fast.

If you need to repeat that a lot, let me know and I can create a script macro for you to automate those steps.

Why the planar function works for some lines in the same time (the squares are "separated" before) or even there are open surface (on the up left side)
and don't works for the big object? (file 3dm linked) Works only if I take manually the edges! (as shown in my previous post)

Hi Pilou, Planar is not set up to analyze curve structures that have more than two curves sharing the same endpoint.

In the case that you show with the separate lines, that is arranged so that each endpoint is only connected to one other endpoint. Planar is set up to track outlines connected like this.

When you have more than one endpoint shared, Planar may try to trace an outline like this:

So for example if it took that path above, it would not make a closed loop, so no surface will be generated there.

It would take quite a lot of extra programming work to make Planar be able to properly analyze branched structures like this.

Hi Wim, there is not currently a packaged up version of this for the Mac, but you can get the Windows version of it running on your Mac by using some of the same infrastructure that's contained within the MoI app.

See here for some instructions - let me know if you need more detailed information on how to get it running:

Hi Michael,

Happy new year to you and your family. I was going to say I hope you took some time out for yourself, but it appears you've been playing Santa :-)

This is a great tool, it will save quite a bit of time. I've tried some big files and so far, no crashes.

Warmest Regards
charles
