Is MoI v4/v5 working ok on the new macOS Ventura for you?

Thanks, - Michael

Have only used v4 for 2-3 hours so far with Ventura, but haven’t experienced any problems. Running on both iMac (Intel) and Airbook (M1).

MoI v5 beta May-22-2022.app is frequently hanging when launched and must be Force Quit. It will occasionally open up after a bit and seems to function fine, but I can't seem to determine why it launches sometimes and not others.

I'm on an M1 Pro MacBook Pro.

Besides that, Ventura has actually resolved a couple of longstanding bugs and has been very stable for me for the past week.

Hi Teddy, on one of the times that it hanging can you please go in Activity Monitor and select the MoI process.

Then on the Activity Monitor toolbar there's a gear button that pops up a menu with one of the items being "spindump". Can you please make one of those and send it to me at moi@moi3d.com ?

Also does MoI v4 work ok there or does it have the same behavior as the v5 beta?

Thanks,
- Michael

Spindump has been sent!

MOI v4 opens normally and takes about 12 bounces of the Dock icon before it opens.

I noticed that "MoI v5 beta May-22-2022.app" eventually opened after 5 minutes or so after the spindump had being created. Subsequently, it opens in 4 Dock icon bounces every time and has not hung up again.

The normal launch has persisted across reboots and it launches normally every time now.

Hi Teddy, thanks for sending the spindump.

So it looks like it is stuck inside some operating system functions for listing the available fonts. From searching on some of the OS functions I've seen some reports of similar kinds of behavior in other apps when there is a corrupted font file.

You might try doing this and see if there is any info in the system log that mentions problems with a particular font:
quote:

Open Console (Applications/Utilities)

In the Console window type "font" or a font name in the Filter field.

You should see messages that are font related. You may have a corrupted font.

It's probably ok after it has hit some kind of timeout and set up a font cache that is then getting used after that.

Also if you have a really enormous number of fonts that may be slowing down launch time even with a font cache being used.

Anyway, sounds like you are running ok now though? It would probably be good to get rid of any corrupted font file though because it's likely to happen again with new versions.
