Select naked edges of which current edge-selection is part of

Hello!

I would have a question on how I would best select open holes in objects.
I've seen this thread: http://moi3d.com/forum/messages.php?webtag=MOI&msg=8295.1, but the problem that I have here is that the script mentioned for selecting naked-edges selects them on all objects. (see screenshots)
Is it possible to just select one edge and then with a shortcut select all of which are also part of the one continuous naked-edge-loop?
Or would there be a better way of doing an edgeloop on an open hole?

Current selection I get with the naked-edges script:

The desired outcome:

Thank you and best regards,
DavidE

Hi,

A script exists named SelectNakedEdges for selecting all naked edges of your surfaces selected.
It exists also a script named SelectNakedOuterLoop which select naked edges if they are a loop too.
Search it. I don't know where is the original.

Have fun

Hi David, there is a selection filtering mechanism on the "Details..." object property dialog which can help with that.

If you select your object, then push "Details...", there is a section of the dialog that gives a report about what type of edges and faces are in the object and you can click there on the label that has the number of naked edges to narrow selection down to those.

So that looks like this:

Also if you want to generate a planar end cap on there you can also do that by selecting the whole object and running Construct > Planar. That will build planar surfaces on any areas with planar naked edges and join it in also.

Thanks, - Michael
