Dim "Formatting: Distance Display:" only has Decimal and Feet & Inches despite system units being set to Centimeters...

Select your Dimension
Open Detail (usually up right page corner)
Write cm (with a space first) after "Text <>"

So you will have <-------- 3.14159265359 cm ------------> cm between some arrows! ;)

Hi Sven, it's pretty unusual in both original style drafting and in CAD for dimensions to have unit system labels like "cm" directly in them.

But if you want it, just to clarify what Pilou wrote above, select your dim object and push the "Details..." button to bring up the Object properties dialog.

Inside there set the value for the Text: property to be <> cm like this:
