Hi Rudl, there is a section of the help file for that here:
https://moi3d.com/4.0/docs/moi_command_reference11.htm#hiddenlinedialog

Here is some additional description for you:

"Generate outlines" - Outlines are curves generated around objects where the object is next to the background.

"Generate silhouettes" - Silhouettes are curves that are traced along areas where on one side a surface normal is pointing towards the eye point and on the other side the surface normal is pointing away the eye point. This can happen along edges and also on internal areas:

"Generate hidden lines" - Hidden lines are curves that are normally hidden from view because they are behind something.

Line style options will bring up a dialog that lets you control the properties of these different categories of generated curves.

Each row of the table is for a particular category. For example this row controls the line width, color, and layer that will be assigned to Outlines:

So that means that outline curves will be given a width of 3 points, will have color black, and will go on a layer named "Outlines".

You can set the color to be either a specific color or "From style" which will use the style color of the edge or face that the curve was generated from.

The layer can be set to either a specific name, or "From style" which will put it on a layer with the style name of the edge or face that the curve was generated from. You can also add a prefix or suffix to the style name so you can make silhouettes go on a layer named red_silhouettes instead of just "red".

Let me know if you need more information on any other pieces.

- Michael

Hi Michael, thank you very much for your perfect answer. In two weeks, I will meet me again with my colleague. Then we will make the PDF presentation of the pyramid. If there are any questions, I will ask you again.

Hello Michael,

would it be possible to include the pdf option menu in the export tab so that only the selected objects will be exported and not the whole file with all objects will be saved as a pdf?

Best regards, Axel

Hi Axel,

You can use File > Export to write only the selected objects instead of everything:

That should work for all formats including PDF format.

Hi Michael,

thanks for your reply. When I use the export, then only the small option menu appears.

When saving, the other option window opens with line width etc., but here the whole file is saved as pdf and not the selected objects only.

Brgds, Axel

Hi Axel, there are 2 different modes for the PDF export.

One mode is if you have any solids or surface objects included as the objects being written. In this situation MoI will generate a hidden line drawing and there will be various kinds of curves generated like hidden lines, silhouettes, and outlines. There will also be a larger options dialog shown to control these generated curves.

The other mode is if you are doing a wireframe only export where only curve objects are being written to the file and not any solids or surfaces. In this mode there will not be any hidden line drawing generated and the options relating to the hidden lines will not be shown.

There is not currently any option to control the line width for a wireframe only export.

So probably when you're exporting selected objects you've got only curves selected and so that's making a wireframe export and when you do a "Save As" where all objects are being written you've got some solids or surfaces being processed there for making a hidden line drawing.
