Boxcutter mode for Moi

I am not sure if it has been discussed before. It would be nice to a boolean mode in Moi similar to Boxcutter for blender. Or is this possible now?

Hi Royce, can you describe what the boolean mode should do?

Looks like it's doing boolean difference on objects as you draw them.

In MoI you would do that by drawing in your cutting object and then using the boolean difference command.

In the future I do want to have different draw modes in MoI to do things like an automatic boolean difference using the object you are drawing but currently you would do those in separate steps. Except for the extrude command, currently when you extrude a face that's part of a solid it is automatically booleaned with the main object as you do the extrusion.

Thank you for posting the video. The video explains the basics of the plugin. It did not shows the effect of using xyz/radial symmetry which are pretty useful. So maybe in the future Moi could have something like it.

Thank you.

Could you please show an example of the xyz/radial symmetry function?

Sry, I missed spoke earlier. XYZ Symmetry and Arrays (radial and linear).

Here is one talking about some the movement and beveling/chamfer then shows a radial array.

https://youtu.be/CAz5HUbeZNk?t=24 Move rotate and beveling/chamfer/inset

https://youtu.be/CAz5HUbeZNk?t=335 Define a depth to a cutter(boolean) operation for repeatability

https://youtu.be/CAz5HUbeZNk?t=447 Using arrays

Hope that helps.

Hi Royce, I took a quick look at the videos and you can get the same results using tools in MoI, it just operates in a slightly different manner.

For example if you want to make an array cut, in MoI you would create the cutting object, then use the Transform > Array commands and then use boolean difference to cut with the objects.

If you have some specific case that you're trying to construct that you're having trouble with in MoI can you please post that case rather than just demo videos. Then I can help explain to you how you can get that result with MoI.
