ViewProject in v5

I'm trying to understand what the command ViewProject in V5beta does. I see that the output of ViewProject is a 3D object, the shape of which depends on 3D viewport camera orientation:



What does ViewProject do and what might it be used for? How are the sizes and orientations of the input and output objects related?

re: ViewProject – the potential use is for making a raised relief type model like this:

It’s a little different than a regular 2D drawing generation because the result still has some depth to it.

It will do a perspective transform of the view frustum, and map the depth of the transformed
frustum to be 40 units thick.

Basically it’s a warp of the entire perspective frustum space into a regular box.
