Is there a way to set circle creation to diameter once and for all ?

Hello Michael and all,

As said in the title : is there any way to set the input for circle creation to always be diameter, once and for all across all work sessions ?

Of course I do understand that I can do so temporarily, by clicking the little bent arrow next to Radius to turn the input field to Diameter ; or even, type my diameter followed by /2. But these are just workarounds that do not really adress the issue.

Up until now I was telling myself that the current behavior is fine, but I just had a tableflip moment after realizing that the 3D print I just got off the build plate had a circular hole two times bigger than intended - because I like to model without touching the interface (typing values as I need them), and I naturally typed in a diameter yet again :D This is espacially problematic when working from real life measurements, since calipers naturally work in diameters ... and nuts and bolts are named by their diameter too.

I am currently using 4.0 (dec 2020)

Thanks !

Well that's perfect ! Thanks, I had a peek at the ini looking for it a little while ago ... but I probably only searched for "circle" and "radius".

Such a relief !

I still don't think it's the ideal solution. It would be nice if circles were defined by their diameter and arcs by their radius, by default. Changing this (only) setting in the ini file means that one or the other will be wrong.

Martin.

Hi there BL,
Interesting. Which arc tool in particular do you mean ? ArcCenter seems to behave just fine here, accepting the distance from the center to the arc (=radius) as the input.

Sorry, I'm getting confused. I must have been thinking of the Dim Radius tool being able to differentiate between arcs & circles (radius or diameter).

Martin.
