System hang in recent versions of Windows 10 while using V4 that seems related to snap on surface

I had been experiencing mysterious system hangs/crashes that started happening about 2-3 months ago inside Windows 10 while using MoI (and no other software).

The system would become entirely unresponsive with the UI frozen, not showing a blue screen. The only solution to was a hard restart as ctrl + shift + tab and ctrl + alt + del both would not work.

I started taking pictures of my monitor to try to see if there was anything in common about what I was doing and every freeze was linked to snapping. After disabling both "object snap -on" and "object snap -on surface" the problem has gone away entirely.

I'm not sure if there is some way I can be more helpful in identifying the issue. It only manifests on my ~8 month old CAD workstation, not my ~6 year old laptop, which is running the exact same version of MoI and Windows.

Hi FDP, a complete system lockup is likely to be some problem with the video driver.

I'd recommend going to the web site of your video card's manufacturer and update to the latest driver you can find there.

Also check in Windows services, do you possibly have something in there called "Nahimic service" ?

Hi FDP, another thing to try is if when you are in MoI if you type Tab and then paste in this:

moi.test( 'testcrash' );

and then press Enter that should cause MoI to crash and generate a crash report file. If you can email that in to me at moi@moi3d.com I can look at it to see what modules have been loaded into MoI's process and that can sometimes give a clue for something that might be interfering.

Thanks, - Michael

Thanks, I've been using the Nvidia Studio Drivers, I will update them and see if that solves the issue. I do not have a service named "Nahimic service.
