Hi,
I have this problem when arraying a pipe along a curve and aligning to surface.
Anybody know what's happening ?
I have used LineWeb script as a work round,
Cheers
Barry

Hi,

Don't know where is your problem.
Michael will answer because he knows everything with Moi.

My advice is to use Flow.
For me, this method is easier.

Have fun...

LineWeb joints straightly (or curvely) only points between curves like that!

There is absolutly not notion of rotation or alignment! ;)

For a result wanted points on the target curves must yet calculated!

Maybe a bug inside the Array Along the curve by Surface ?

Hi Barry, the "Align to surface" option was meant more to handle something vertical to the surface like a cone sticking upwards like this:

The rotation around the surface normal is currently arbitrary which doesn't really matter for the cone case but isn't good for your case.

I'll see if I can modify the behavior to make it pay more attention to the path tangent direction as well as the surface normal instead of only using path position and surface normal like it currently does.

Maybe Dispersion by Max Smirnov can make something! ;) (not yet verified)
VSeed + VClone

Hi,
thanks for the quick replies much appreciated.
This is the link to the tutorial I was duplicating in Moi.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QWUfbrhfO2s
I finished it using the LineWeb script (see photo)
I've done a number of the exercises by Easy Cad Solutions good
challenged Moi v Solid works (David v Goliath) and so far always
found a method in Moi to complete.
Anyway again many thanks.
Barry

VClone is working fine!

But the Vseed has a glitch! :(

Does the same for you ?

Seems working in the V3 !

But not sure that will for the asked problem because vectors are perpendicular to the surface!

Ok refound again the Vclone use ! :)
You must play with axis gizmo for the good one orientation and placement result!
Here i am on the external surface of the cylinder (for better see the axes )
you must take of course the internal axis depending of the result whished!
Good luck! :)
Ps you have a possibility of History inside the plugin itself if wanted!
Enable or disable Scale / Vectors and some variations also!
A very versatile cool one!

Hey Barry,
I feel like I want to move in and live in that result for some reason.

Pretty cool!

Hi Pilou,
I've not used the Vclone script before thanks for the demo.

Hi Barry, I've tuned up Array along curve with the "Align to surface' option for the next v5 beta. It should avoid excess twisting around the surface normal.
