Let me say, i can advice to take your attention into real-time-rendering and animation tools (not Styles but Shaders and lights as objects in scene).
I know major CAD/CAS use optimisation of shaders to video hard accelerators and goes to external big softs for rendering needs like VRay, Maxwell, MentalRay, KeyShot and etc...
(within not-correct Monte-Carlo (Russian Rulette))) method to cut Light-tracing calculations trees)
I think it's good for Real-time-renderings previews and big machines, but early versions of RenderMan shaders was fake but very good-looked with "fake Radiosity" (exaggerated color transfer/color bleeding)...
I miss all these tools for example in Rhino. I use Grasshopper plug-in Rhino not only for parametrization at modeling and for animation too, you can see my work here

It can animate colours/opacity as wish at the process and when rendering animation times...
And all CADs and CASs, even Maya, doesn't calculate and doesn't limit me as modeller with collisions of objects in scenes. I very need these default constrains in each soft I used...
It's a perpective!
