How to join multiple lines into a grid

I've just started using the v4 trial version. My end goal is to 'flow' a grid of lines onto a lofted surface made with a few curves to create a warped grid effect.

How can I join a rectangle (square) and multiple lines together to make one object? I can see the four points of the square and end points of the lines, but the join command doesn't seem to have any effect.

I'm sure this is very basic. Any help is appreciated.

Hi hmc, it isn't necessary to make a single object out of your lines. You can flow any number of objects, just select them all as input into the Flow command.

Curves are a path-like object with a start and end, you can only join a curve to another curve that is touching it at their endpoints to make a longer path.

So you can't join curves together into a single curve object in the type of configuration that you are describing, but you do not need to do that to flow them either.

Hi Michael, thanks for clarifying that. I'm coming to this from a vector design mentality where, in Adobe Illustrator or CorelDraw for example, you can join/weld curves together to form single objects.

I've just managed to flow my grid onto a simple lofted surface after toggling the perspective checkbox.

This is amazing!
