Project 3d viewport drawing to cplane

Hi Michael,
Is there a way to project all 3d viewport drawing picks to a plane?

I have a 3d model in the 3d viewport and am "grabbing clines from the 3d model". I want all the drawing to be projected to 2d though.

Is this possible?

Hi Michael,
Thanks for the reply.

Just trying to wrap my head around it. Here is a quick video showing the intersection I am looking for.

So like moving to the front view gives me a snap, but its not in the same place as my "View" in 3d...

So like a paperspace for the 3d viewport? If I run Make2d on that object, then I can do it of course

I am not sure of what i am asking...

Hi Burr, Moi will only calculate that kind of "apparent intersection" in the Top/Front/Right ortho views and not in the 3D view.

If you have Rhino you can use it to do that but I don't think it's going to set up a perspective transform from it like you seem to be looking for.

Also, Can you discuss just a bit on the Make2D "Resolution" field? How does it relate to the actual size of my object.

Thanks

Make2D in MoI is done through a type of rendering process where it breaks down surfaces and curves to a pixel grid and determines visibility in those grid samples. The resolution is the density of that pixel grid given in megapixels.

It doesn't have any effect on the size of the object.

Hey Brian,
So the "perspective transform" is a serious math calculation and not just me drawing an outline around an object in perspective view.

I am referring to the discussion here,

https://moi3d.com/forum/lmessages.php?webtag=MOI&msg=10626.1

where i was trying to help Elang.

But, knowing that, we can get the camera position from MoI. If someone had the gumshun, they could do that calc and draw a polygon on screen that represents the current perspective projection. Probably a script could do that!!!

That could be used with flow to create perspective models...
