Hi All,

Whilst trying to extrude parts of the attached file, I keep getting these error messages:

Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Many thanks!

Ok, so after posting I realised that my drawing had many points which weren't properly connected.. they had gaps. I zoomed in a lot to
see them. This brings me to my next question which is when I try to click on for example the centre of a circle , several little crosses show up
so I don't know which one to click on:

Similarly, the same thing happens for a line too where there appear to be several little crosses and it's confusing which one to click on. This is particularly
problematic when I'm drawing one quadrant which needs to be mirrored to make a full circular pattern.

Could someone please clarify?

Many thanks!
Gunter

It looks like there are 16 or more "centers", near the central location.
Maybe redraw the objects basic unit, and circular array, and/or mirror?
Looks hexagonal. Six sided MoI Star polygon...
I would use the origin as a center reference for a redraw. Move to first quadrant at end...

There are 12 ("invisible") micro curves at top, and 12 more near bottom, found by hiding just the obvious closed curves, and doing "lasso select" of large areas.
There are 4 semi-circles near the central "circle".
If these are deleted, and the outer rim hidden, the other closed curves extrude well.

Brian, thank you for your input. I did end up redoing much of it and I think I finally got it :)
This is also dimensionally correct as I needed the diameter to be 15mm.

Thanks again!

Hi Gunter,
Your object looks excellent!
Thought it might be a window, but maybe a cufflink?

Hi Gunter, it sounds like you've got it worked out now? I will see about fixing up the crash.

Currently the best thing to do in this situation is to hide other pieces so they are out of the way and their centers won't be targeted.

A quick way to hide other thing is to select the object you want to target and then right-click on the Edit > Hide button. A right click there will do an "isolate" function where the selected objects will stay visible and everything else will be hidden. Also it will store a memory of the hide/show state before the isolate so when you trigger it second time it will restore things to the pre-isolate state.

Hey Brian,

It's a prototype for a pendant for a client.
She wants the recesses to be filled with coloured
resin so super fun project.

Appreciate your interest :)

Many thanks,
Gunter
