Fillet, and Save, queries

Hey, folks!

After downloading the v3 trial some years ago, and deciding back then that it wasn't for me, I thought I'd give v4 a whirl yesterday. I can't remember much about MoI, so I have a couple of questions:

1) Can fillets be edited once applied?
2) When you save a file, does it always go through the same process of opening up a save file dialogue and then once you've named (or copied over) the file, prompt you to set the number of polygons etc? Or can this be skipped, and simply hitting save will copy over your existing file unless you 'save as...'?

Cheers,

Darren.

Hi Darren,

No

2) When you save a file, does it always go through the same process of opening up a save file dialogue and then once you've named (or copied over) the file, prompt you to set the number of polygons etc? No.
The process you describe is the Export function.
In V4 (as in V3) the export function opens a save file dialog where you choose the name and the file format you want to export.
Next if the file format is based on polygons the function prompts to set the number of polygons.
But the save file function uses the native .3dm file format and is a silent function

Have fun Darren !

Hi Darren,

re:

Nope, you need a parametric solids modeling program for that type of thing, check out something like SolidWorks, Alibre, OnShape, etc... there are many out there. MoI is focused on different qualities like simplicity of initially drawing things.

Once you have opened or saved to a .3dm file to set the current active file name then when you do a Save after that it won't prompt you.

You would only get a prompt for number of polygons if you were to save to something other than MoI's main .3dm file format which does not set the current active model file name.

Cheers, Michael (and Phiro)

Ah, yes, I was saving to .obj, which meant the prompts kept happening.

As for fillets, it's not a deal-breaker. I'll just be more careful when creating them. :)
