Converting PDF files to vector files in version 3

Howdy folks,

One of the nice things about this program is how I can import a PDF drawing and it becomes a ready to use vector drawing which I can develop from there.

There is a small problem though and that is the shapes or lines are duplicated one on top of each other.

An example would be a rectangle, there might be two or more copies on top of each other where the additional copies need to be deleted to get down to the core drawing.

This is not so bad on a simple drawing but on a complex one it can be time consuming to look for all of the duplications and delete them all.

Is there a method to receive just the base drawing without the overlapping duplications?

Thanks,

Timir

Hi Timir, the way the PDF importer works is every time a path is rendered it will make that path into a curve inside MoI. The thing is there are 2 different ways a path can be rendered in PDF, it can have its outlined drawn or it can be filled. So if a path has both an outline and a fill you can get it duplicated.

One method you might try is the RemoveDuplicates command. There isn't a button for this in the UI so to run it select all the curves, type the Tab key and type RemoveDuplicates and then Enter.
