Display and Export problem

Hi Michael,

I have an object that displays "inside lines on the outside".

Worse yet, the lines also export, when exported to Illustrator.

First I thought it might be a meshing-angle problem, but even when set to one the problem persists.

If I cut that object horizontally in half, the problem disappears, when re-unioned, it shows up again...

I have no idea on how to fix that.

Attached an image of the problem. The rotated view also shows other artifacts, they also export

Hope there's a solution,

Thanx!

Hi Death, the illustrator exporter is having problems with the small scale of the object.

Try scaling it up by 10 times in size by selecting the object, then run Transform > Scale. At the first prompt for scale origin type 0 <Enter> to give it 0,0,0 for the scale origin point and then at the next prompt type in 10 <Enter> to use a scale factor of 10.

You will still see the artifact in the viewport display but it will now be gone from the 2D drawing generated for the export.

The meshing angle only has to do with the viewport display, it is not used for 2D drawing generation. 2D drawing generation uses a different meshing method where it automatically refines it until it is smooth in the page space of the 2D drawing.

Currently the 2D drawing generation doesn't like it if your objects are unusually small or large in overall scale. I will be working on tuning this up.

U da Man! ;-)

Thanx!

That did the job! Now I can breath easier, I thought I might have to go and delete all the "curlies" by hand, peeew!

Thanks again for taking the time, you are a lifesaver! (as always...)
