Random Points on a curve or UCS text

Given that their are so many users and scripts does anyone know if either of these have been created somewhere? I looked in the resources section and did not see them.

First is there a script to label points with their coordinate data as shown on the left? I can manually do this but for allot of points that becomes undesirable. Ability to display them in a table would be even better or at least paste them to one.

Second is there a "array on curve with some sort of random input"? I know my example shows them also arrayed off the curve but that would also be handy to have some sort random offset function

Hello Grendel,

For the first part of your question, I believe @Michael intentionally avoided it ( Showing coordinates of the points beside them) I believe he mentioned it would be too messy.

For the second part of your question, I was not able to understand what u mean?

Hi Grendel,

You might find my Coordinates script to be of some help: https://moi3d.com/forum/messages.php?webtag=MOI&msg=10013.1

Hi Grendel, for your "points on path" one, initially set up a line with a straight array of points on it, apply randomize (http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI&msg=5416.5), and then use Transform > Deform > Flow to map the points from the straight line to the curved path.

Hi Grendel, for labeling points, try the attached script which will generate label annotation text positioned on selected point objects:

.......and this right here is the reason that everyone loves this software, community and developer. I can't thank you all enough for the assistance and Michael for your time that you give to us when we can't figure something out or do not fully understand a tool or construction methodology

Pilou,

You can use show points on your curve.
Then select the points and copy/paste to have the points.

Is it what you needed ?

@ Phiro
No! :)

If I draw a cube, then Show Points then select these points
it's "control points" not geometric points !
They can't be labelled by the "LabelPointsCoordinates" command of this thread!

I don't understand.
Your goal is to use the script LabelPpointCoordinate ?
I think, it works.

First you have a sphere (for the exemple).
Next, Show points
Next, you select your sphere and its control points.
Next, you deselect the sphere, only control points are selected.
Copy/paste give you the points.
At this moment, points are only points and you can use the LabelPointCoordinates script.

It's what you wanted or I missed the goal ?

Yes exactly that but till now i was not able to separate the Points on the copy past!

I must miss a step on the process!

Even a simple cube : sometime that work sometime not!

I have not yet found the little detail where i make a false operation
on the unselect object / Points!...must be evident but...

It's the maze of the day! :)

Hi Pilou, maybe you were missing the step of selecting the points?

You can select all control points of an object by first selecting one and then use Ctrl+A / Select all.
