Flip script and height bump/map script

Good day

Does a script exist where you can quickly flip your item horizontal and vertical? so this can be configured with a shortcut

Is there a way to recreate the black texture in Moi or close to it > https://www.brandinginasia.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Datsun-Logo-history.jpg

Thank you!

You have Height Map by Max Smirnov
http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI&msg=7547.52

But you haver better way to make this sort of thing inside your render engine ;)

About the flip vertical maybe the Edit Frame is some speedy ?
But i am not sure of what is a "Flip"...

Hi Matadem,

There isn't any existing script for this that I am aware of.

You can use the edit frame corners to do a quick mirror of an object though, if you grab a corner and move it to one of the other corners:

Max has made a HeightMap plugin that can do that:
http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI&msg=7547.1

It's in his file archive here:
http://moi.maxsm.net/media/files/

There is also a free standalone program called ZSurf that can do that type of thing, some links here:
http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI&msg=2423.2

However, CAD programs are generally not suited to work with surfaces that have high frequency bumpy details like that in it, it is much more efficient to have that done as a bump or displacement shader in a rendering program.

Good day.

That kind of flip works too ...with a shortcut would be faster (Hopefully someday :D)
Vectric has a button to flip items horizontal and vertical.
The Zsurf4 did a pretty good job for what I need.

The Vectric aspire will convert image to textures as well ...I probably upgrade later this year.

Thank you!

I hope Michael makes sequential shortcuts as soon as possible! That would be awesome!

Imagine u press "F" for Fillet and then "C" to get Chamfer!

This way I guess we could do define sequential shortcuts for flipping along vertical and horizontal lines. (it's just a thought)

I myself use "M" to do the mirroring. I thought it could be awesome if I could define sequential shortcuts within MoI like "M"+"X" mirror along X-axis. "M" + "Y" for mirror along Y-axis

Yes something like this I was thinking

On the Fillet and chamfer topic I always thought It would be nice for instance if you are in the fillet command with your lines or your items selected
That shows you the fillet numbers range that would work, example between 5mm and 50mm ...outside the range it would be a calculation failed.

This is what I came up with some simple testing
this was created from a simple black and white image with the Zsurf extruded in Moi. Boolean merge bottom.
However when I tried Boolean merge or trim the top it would be hollow. So I made a cube and Boolean diff the top.

Hi PILOU, you mean I can make sequential shortcuts? For example, I press "F" and the fillet command gets selected and it awaits me to choose between "Fillet" or "Chamfer" by pressing the next shortcut?

@ Psygorn

I have not tested but from the example of the Inset function (from my site) seems you can chain parameters inside the function!

Inset thickness=2 direction=Outwards expand=false grooved=false useseparateheight=true height=4

and at the end you make a shortcut of all the line! ;)
Must be the same for the Fillet!

So... :)
this line inside the shortcut option et voilĂ  !
chamfer 2 distanceinput1=1 chamfer distanceinput2=2
and you obtain directly a Chamfer with 2 different distances! :)

Here my shortcut was Alt + H, distances was pre-defined by the line!

Unfortunately it would require quite a lot of number crunching to figure that out. Probably some kind of specialized solver for intersections between offset surfaces would be involved.

So there would probably be some kind of long 10 minute hiccup when you started the Fillet command before it would have that information and be able to proceed with the command.
