Specs for fastest MoI3D

Hi, first I have to say thanks to Michael Gibson for creating a very good software and thanks to this nice little community for keeping it alive.

I found my personal perfect workflow by combining Blender and MoI3D. Super powerful and yet affordable.

My workstation will hit the 10 year mark soon. Still works fine but I will dive deeper into modeling and rendering so I'd like something new in not too distant future.

From what I've read (and also experienced myself) so far, MoI3D is not too picky, which is cool. Lean and mean is how I would describe it.

But what hardware has biggest impact on MoI3D when working with big assemblies and very complex surfaces (imported from Blender)?

More RAM? What kind of CPU? Is MoI3D using GPU?
First of all I would go with most Blender friendly specs. But if a certain factor has big effect on MoI3D, I need to consider.

Budget would be around 3000-5000 Euros.

Since my MSI laptop served me very well, I will most probably get MSI again. The recently anounced Creator Z17 look nice. 12th gen core i9. Geforce RTX3080.
Should I consider more RAM or is 32gb more than enough for MoI3D?

What are your experiences, suggestions? Any thoughts on GeForce vs Quadro (or RTX A5000 as they renamed it)?

Hi k526, I'm glad you are liking MoI! :)

I think it should work fine to go for specs recommended for Blender performance, MoI will make use of the same kind of stuff generally.

MoI does use both CPU and GPU, for heavier projects it would be a good idea to have NVidia or AMD graphics instead of Intel graphics.

32gb is quite a bit, it could be possible to make a project that would need more but it would be very complex.

If you had to pick one single thing to prioritize I guess it would be GPU.

One thing that can be a little tricky about laptop form factor is that if is loaded up with all max specs it can get thermally throttled if it can't keep all that high end stuff cool while it is under load.

Thank you for the reply Michael, and sorry for my late reply. My current Laptop has an i7 and Quadro, though it is old it still runs pretty well.
MSI laptops have good cooling system, very loud though.
