ORGANIC MODELLING IN MOI SUB D

Hi All,
Just as an exercise to create a base model to sculpt in Zbrush I modelled this horse in Moi using polylines, lofts and extrudes it actually worked very well to create a solid organic shape to commence the sculpting process. Here is work flow I used and model for anyone interested in organic modelling inside MOI. Again with just a simple set of tool can generate some great base shapes.

Cool process!

I suppose that you know that you can make also Box Modeling + Subdivide inside Moi 3D!

LineWeb for help to make Box Modeling :)

Draw curves
Rebuild say 10 points
Line Web Lines or polylines: 10 points (order of selection is important! )
Kill curves
Loft "Lines"
Kill Lines
Select faces : Extrude with "Keep Separate"
Boolean Union
Subdivide

And if you save your object in OBJ
You can use the free funny Spline for some cool things in seconds without some efforts! :)
Click on the little object ;)
And of course Zoom, Rotate, Move...

Nice work Alex. I always enjoy seeing what people make with the SubD tools in MoI. It's good to have the SubD option for those "organic" shapes, and really powerful when those shapes are combined with NURBs objects.

HI Pilou,
Thanks for your workflow method looks even simpler and great for simple shapes, the workflow I presented keeps the subd object point control intact so that the shape can be sculpted in MOI.

I Firstly drew the primary blue outer shape in polylines. Then I manually drew in the black body dividing lines adding more where I though I may need more control over points to manipulate the shape. I then deleted the outer line and redrew the polyline outer to match the inner divisions so all the divisions ended as quads. Same process for the legs.

I have rhino7 with subd but love the simplicity of the MOI tool set so I took inspiration from this video,

Thx for the info!

Yes method shawn on Rhino is classic Box Modeling...

You can Make exactly the same with the 4 "rustical" tools given by Max Smirnov inside Moi...
SubDivide, SSplit, SBridge, Sscale sure maybe not so speedy than Blender or special Poly Modeling prog
Here move down the "inset face" is made by a simple "extrude" (not shown on this video)
