Small difficulty to solve!

Hi,
I have a little difficulty with the shape below (see the images), a kind of pinching due to a very closed angle and that in 4 places. After trying different approaches, I couldn't find anything satisfactory. I remember a subject on this type of problem, but I can't find it on the site and I think it was about the use of the "Fillet" tool. There, I only use the "Network" tool.
I look forward to your suggestions (patiently!), Thank you.

Hi Zooen, a good way to get better quality is to construct a simpler initial surface that is more regular, and then produce the irregular boundaries by trimming that surface rather than trying to do surface construction directly along an irregular boundary shape.

Check out here for an example:

So basically the simplified surface you want to construct should look similar to a big rectangular sheet. Then the final more detailed non-rectangular boundary is formed by cutting that surface either with Trim or by booleans.

If you try to construct the initial surface directly to an irregular boundary the shape of the boundary is going to have too much influence on the surface shaping. The surface will be stressed and be pinched or stretched awkwardly and won't have good shaping.

Great, Thanks Michael,

The link to the example is just the solution I needed.
I will translate it into French and put it in my "tips and tricks" file

Creation in progress!

I made the main body, but in the end it doesn't really suit me compared to the actual shape (even if it comes close). So I start from the beginning!

It's progressing! A violin is made up of 80 parts. I made about ten of them, and the soundboard (the top) and the bottom are not yet completely finished. At the same time I learn and discover new uses or diversions of MoI3D tools.

Luthiers are truly artists!

all of this is exciting.

Thanks Michael,
Ah! I noticed last night that the soundboard (the top) did not have the same curvature above and below. I couldn't use "Offset>Shell". Well, it's solved, same thing for the background. In addition, all parts (80) must be solids (as in reality). I will have to make these pieces in several files and put everything together at the end.

MoI3D is really an awesome design tool.

Well, I resumed the creation at the beginning, or almost. I was not satisfied...
As I'm not a fan of photorealistic renderings, I extracted the edges of the three main solids (the soundboard, the back and the side) to have curves and rework the images below without leaving MoI3D . There are certainly things to dig into with this process.

Well, I think the soundboard, back and sides are definitely finished.
There remained the outlines to be made in a rounded shape, but with an almost flat shape on their lower part and sorts of connecting beaks in the pointed parts. All of this had to be joined with the rest to get a solid.

Hello,
I have just resumed the creation of my violin, interrupted for some time.
I'm a bit in difficulty to achieve the volute and neck part which is almost an organic modeling!

So I'm appealing to you for suggestions to make this part of the violin with MoI3D. I attach several images to illustrate my point.

I did a lot of research and found a lot of technical documentation, as well as tutorials with Blender and Modo.

Cristobal Vital has made available a series of very detailed tutorials with Modo where we see that the realization of the Volute part and the handle is quite complex.

The scroll has been on my to-do list since before 2018.

Carving instruction link:

How to carve away wood in MoI? A subtractive process.

Or how to model the surfaces?

Have seen several side views of the scroll of historic violins. They vary.

Hi,
Thank you all for your responses. I look at all this to finalize my violin.

I see people(16) uploaded the jpeg image of the listed "Sradivaruis_Betts" violin volute. If you want high and very high quality images in jpeg format of different "Stradivaruis" violins, you have to go to the "Library of congresses" site, for example here: https://www.loc.gov/item/ihas.200154811/
