Maybe I forgot a basic function or couldn't find the right script. As there is the script "Extend selection of edges" there is "Extend selection of connected curves".
An example below: an "interlacing" of curves, some joined, others connected but separated, and so on.

Maybe this one select all curves joined...without certitude...tested ...seems not! :(

But between two 3D curves you can use Blend who connect these 2 curves! :)

Not that I'm aware of. You can select a big pile of curves and use the Edit > Join command to glue together the pieces that are touching each other end to end though.
