DUTCH TJALK (14.5m X 4m X 3.75m) Draft : 0.7m
Tjalk is a very popular type of vessel build in Holland around 1900.
Today, they are used as floating home in inland waterways, river, canal and lakes ...
In the past they could navigate under sail between Holland and England for the transport of goods.
Since, the holds are replaced by a cabin in front and a wheelhouse is added to the aft.
Often a diesel engine will replace the sail and huge liftable keels at sides.
They are still very present as home afloat in French canals.
Plans of this barge is quite difficult to draw if you want to stay true to the original.
The lines are both simple but very particular to this type.
In the past, since labor was available, builders could give curvatures to the steel plates.
Labor getting expensive, only flat and staight surfaces are used to attain exactly the same shape.
Generally speaking, vessels by "Hull Design" are "roomy" and "easy to build".
All Without compromising on aesthetics.
These plans are preliminary drawings that can go as far as drawing up accurate plans for construction.
Inevitably, accurate plans with will requiere more effort and more time.
Also it depends on material used to build the hull.
Stell, wood, epoxy,... they all require different details.
More choice of hull using MoI3D will follow.
Have fun.
