Hi Tom, I don't think there is any one single set of parameters that would be the best for every single case. It depends on a lot of the specific details like the shaping and size of the model.
It would probably help to give some advice if you would share the particular model file that you're exporting.
Some general tips though I'd say would be to probably try and use the "Divide larger than" parameter when you are exporting to dice up polygons into smaller pieces so that it resembles what a 3D scanned object looks like.
I think I've heard that the current best automatic quad retopo processor is "Quad remesher" mentioned here:
