How to change the main window font colour and drawing area background colour in Linux wine?

Hello,

I reinstalled MoI 3.0 after some time on Solus Linux. Unfortunately I can't work with it as the font colour in the main window is white and there's too little contrast to read the text. Also, the background colour of the drawing areas is black instead of light grey.

With winecfg, I can change the font and background colours of sub-menus etc. but not on the main window. I can change the font size only.

I am speculating if I say, that's due to the active Gnome desktop theme?!

Any idea about how to change the font and background of the main window?

S.

Hi skipper, MoI's default text color is supposed to be black. Both the white text and the black viewports look more like problems in WINE and not just something to configure in MoI.

The viewports look like they are not being displayed at all, even if the background was black there should be some other stuff visible on top of it like the grid, viewport title and x/y/z axis icon in the corner.

For the text, that may indicate that your video card driver does not handle an X11 extension involving transparency properly. But you may be able to solve it by adjusting a setting in Wine to tell it to use its own font rendering rather than relying on the video card, please see here for some info: http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI&msg=4409.103

The broken viewports probably means something wrong with WINE's Direct3D9 translation layer. You might try different versions of WINE or also MoI v4 is able to use OpenGL when running on Wine instead of Direct3D9 and the WINE OpenGL layer is much thinner and mostly passes through to the system's OpenGL lib so that may work better.
