After mirroring an object are the two objects supposed to be coupled together so moving the original also moves the copy (but mirrored)?

Hi Frederick, yes that's currently how it is supposed to work, it's the history update function working there.

You can turn it off by selecting the result of the mirror and using Edit > History > "Disable update".

In the future this will probably change a little so it's not on by default, it can be surprising.
