Hello,

Is there a way to import a 3d file, maybe fbx or stl, to use as reference in MOL4?

Tks,
Ulisses

Better to convert you files in Obj format then import to Moi

3 methods
Only the Structure

File will be converted in format 3dm

By native Subdivision - Menu SUbD / Create/ From a File
File will be directly subdivided and converted in nurbs

By Plugin By Max Smirnov _ImportOBJ
Original Structure to Subdivide
File will be imported nd converted in nurbs and will be parameter for be subdivided a

In any case better to have quadrangulated surfaces and a max reasonable polys number of 150 000

So use free MeshLab (can convert your files Stl or Fbx too) or Instant Meshes for this quadrangulation!

Hi Ulisses, fbx and stl files contain data in the form of faceted polygon meshes which is different than the CAD NURBS surfaces and solids that MoI uses for modeling.

Moi can export to a polygon mesh which it does by dicing up large surfaces into little flat pieces but it is not very straightforward to try and go the reverse direction. So that's why MoI can export to fbx or stl formats but does not import those formats.

To use as a reference you can use the Obj23dmWireframe converter from https://moi3d.com/resources that Pilou mentions above, it will convert polygons in an .obj file into a .3dm file with lines for the polygon edges which can then be opened in MoI.
