Creating a 3d solid of a non-symmetrical curved shape

Hi All,

I'm trying to create a 3D solid out of the yellow drawing, similar to a banana shape. I clearly can't revolve it. Would anyone
please explain how I could go about creating the solid shape?
Thank you!
Gunter

One method
Daw any vertical section (even like here curvated)
Order of click curves for Loft is necessary!

If you want only half part like Barry-H following just draw the vertical bottom curve so 3 curves at the end :)

PS Of course you can draw any number of curves (Vertical & horizontal for a best management of the form)

You can Sweep the green Profile using the red & blue curves as Rails. Then pick the orange curve as a Scaling Rail.

Scaling Rails are nice because you can define the shape as a continuous, rather than discrete curves.

And if you turn on points, you can modify the scaling rail and see the model update in real time.

Note that the orange Scaling Rail does not have to touch the green profile curve. The profile curve will stretch to meet the scaling rail as it sweeps.

You can also add additional green Profile curves if you need a more complex shape on the bottom, but in this example it looks like a simple rounded bottom is all you need.

Finally, if you want a Solid, just draw the green Profile as a closed curve.

Thank you all very much for your answers, much appreciated.

@Barry-H - How do you go about creating those 'ribs' so they are absolutely vertical? I tried doing that on my own but they inevitably are at various angles to the vertical.

@ ed (EDDYF) - How do you create that central orange line? I tried that and it came out all wonky.

Gunter - I drew it in side view and made sure the end points touch where the red & blue lines meet. Should work fine if you have Object Snap turned on.

Hi Gunter,
If you show the curve points the the start point and next point should be inline and same for end points.
So if you mirror the object the join is tangent.
Hope this helps.

Well ... As long as we are counting Pilou :)

We have the SubD method. But not recommended for this application as the NURBs methods are more precise and easier to edit.

Hey guys been away for a while popped in to see where MoI is at, I see Pilou is still here :)
Sometimes the MoI basics work well and maybe forgotten I'm a bit rusty with MoI so forgive the delays.

And then another way to create the pod. Possibly more sidewall control over thickness, etc...
