Bague - Ring

Hello,
I would like to outline a problem that I have been facing and have your suggestions on how to solve it.
In my exploration of the different tools of MoI, I was interested in "Deform", "Flow" and "Twist". To do this, I found in my archives a Rhino tutorial for making a ring.
The problem that I have not been able to solve is the warping, or curvature, of the left and right ends of the silver temples (Rhino has "Cage" and "Bend" tools that MoI does not have yet or that I did not find!). So I "cheated" a bit to arrive at a result that only partially satisfied me. I modified the stone to fit the branches.
I deliver the file to you with the 1st version of the ring and the 2nd with my "hacks" !! more a very average rendering.

Generally the Flow function can resolve some Bends / Deformations

Hii Zooen,

I don't understand where is your problem or what do you want to have as result.
Have you a picture of the result you want ?
Do you want place your hooks differently or size them or the curve or blending ?

Je ne comprends pas où se trouve le problème ou ce que tu recherches comme résultat.
Tu as une image du résultat que tu recherches ?
Le problème est sur l'emplacement des griffes, leur taille ou sur la courbure ?

Have fun...

P.

Yes, that's exactly it. I had to anticipate the curvature of the branches (claws) before doing the "Flow" so no chance of having a correct position (I may not be in control). I wish I could do this at the end, versus the stone and / or the case with a cage or bend tool. I am confident MoI will certainly have tools like this in the future. Or they exist and I don't know how to use them.

As Pilou said, the Flow function is pretty good for this.
But be carefull, this is not the same thing as a deformation cage.

Another point, to help you and tuning the right placement, you can use the "history".
With Flow + history, you can tune the deformation in real time.

Last Advise, think about the number and place of points of the source and target curves of the flow before flowing. It could help you too.

Yes. It is certainly the solution for adjustments and positioning. I must fully appropriate the use of history.

Ah! I am aware of that, but I regularly forget to check the points of the curves. reflexes to acquire.

Hi Zooen,
the attached photo shows a method of blending between the main shank and the final mount positions.
This is achieved by flowing only part of the shank and then blending to the desired mount claws.
I used only the centre line curves of the wires for the twist and flow then blended to the desired mount lines.
I then joined and rebuilt the curves before sweeping the wire circles and filleting the ends.
Hope this helps.
Barry

Nothing with the above but who knows! :)

WIres & Wires2 : in one you can choice a profil, in the other one you can choice the diameter...

Third parameter don't shown on the animation is the moving inside volume of the extremities!

Hi Pilou,
not used the wire script before but can be used for this method.
Thanks
Barry
