scaling part of the object

Hello,

I need to scale part of the object, where I have the dimensions.

I need to expand the object from 60 to 80 in the front part, without change the back of the object.

I tried the 1D scale, but it stretches the other part as well.
I tried to select some faces and move, no success.
Maybe cutting the object in half?

Tks.
Ulisses

Yes cut !

Or Separate all (but that will maybe break some things maybe important when you Boolean Union again )
"Show points" select and move them...

Hi ulisses,

re:

Almost, I'd probably try cutting the object into 3 pieces. Draw in 2 cutting lines in the top view and use them as the cutting objects in boolean difference to cut your object into 3 separate pieces.

Move the left piece over to the end location you need, and then use Scale1d to stretch the middle part out to meet it.

If you need a demo please post your .3dm model file or e-mail it to me at moi@moi3d.com if you want to keep it private.

Thank you Michael, Pilou,.

I didn't know I could use boolean dif with a simple line, great.
I cut in 3 parts and extended the middle one, then boolean union.

Looks like it is ok.

Great!

Hi,

When I've seen this request I imagined not a double cut but another process.

1/ single cut with a line boolean difference
2/ moving a part at the right place
3/ lofting between the 2 parts

What do you think about it ?
Right or wrong idea ?

P.

It's fine, it's just that if there are a lot of edges to loft between that would probably take a little more time to do that than the 3 part method.

The 3 parts way needs just one stretch using the edit frame like this:

You're right Michael,

I forgot a mouse scaling and though only a numpad dimension scaling which was less easy.

Multiple ways, for same goal...
