Trim Fonction

This dialog box appears when you select two entities and then the cut function. It is not documented (it seems to me). Could someone please explain to me the usefulness of the options in particular, and in what case it is interesting to use them, among others, compared to the "normal" cutting method.

Hi Zooen, the documentation for the Trim command is here:
https://moi3d.com/4.0/docs/moi_command_reference4.htm#trim

Do you have a question about a particular option?

Hi Michael,
When I renewed my license for V4.0 (just at the time of its release), the French aid was still that of 2010. I understand very well that it certainly takes time and work for the translators so that all help in all languages is up to date with help in English. I have now done what is necessary to update the latest French documents available in the "Docs" folder.

Regarding the "Cut" function: using a line or a curve, it is possible to cut on a solid or a surface from any view. But to cut a curve or line from another line or curve, I noticed that it doesn't work in 3D view, and only works in other views if those are the one behind the other. This is not documented it seems to me.
(I don't know what the GG translation gives ??!)

Seems Trim article are the same...

About only curves Trim
"Prolonger les Lignes" et "Intersection à "Projeter" doivent être cochées pour toutes les vues même la Vue 3D mais il faut une véritable "Inersection Projetée" dans les 3 vues à la fois!

And yes this case it's not documented! ;)

Yes I can understand that having outdated docs can be confusing. In the past I've included these in the regular install with the idea that some translated documentation is better than none, even if it is outdated.

But maybe I should reconsider that and not include out of date translations in the base install.

The "Project intersections" option for trimming curves does work in the 3D view, however the projection direction comes from the view's construction plane grid. So in the 3D view you'll get a result same as the "Top" view, and as you can see in your screenshot, in the top view the 2 curves when projected do not intersect each other:

You can make your case work in the 3D view if you set the construction plane:
