Possible selection shortcut for grouping?

Hi,

I know there have been lots of discussions about grouping objects or making some kind of components, however, since this seems quite a difficult things to achieve in the near future, I wonder if it will be possible to introduce a couple of shortcuts that can ease a bit the process without altering too much the software behaviour.

In particular I wonder if it will be possible to assign something like SHIFT+LeftClick on a object to behave as we have clicked on the selection indication dot of the object, so basically selecting all the items which are parts of that object.

Similarly, it would be great to have something like ALT+LeftClick on a object to select all the objects which are on the the same styles, again as we have clicked on the indicator dot to the left of the style name.

The advantage of the first shortcut over clicking on the indication dot is that you do not need to know what is the name of the corresponding object and if or is not part of it. For the styles, instead it is a bit easier because you can see the different colours.

Michael is that something that can be implemented?

Hi Salvatore,

Sorry no shift + left click is already used for enabling multiple selection if someone has turned off the automatic multiple selection option.

In general I'm hesitant to implement special behavior for mouse clicks like you're asking, if they get used up for some specialized short term goal then it's problematic to remove them later on.
