hi,

i'm wondering if it would be possible to add an option to the point import script. it has some really nice features. however, i have to import everything twice because of a few odd things.

if i import the points and then try to fit a line through them, it wants me to click the points one by one. that's not really an option, due to all the points. there are options to fit the points on import, so i am doing that instead. however, i still need the points for other reasons. so i have to import them again and not fit a line through them.

thus, could an option be added to bring in the points 'and' fit a line through them. perhaps i don't know how to fit a line through them with the existing gui. i tried a few things and it always seemed to want me to click them one by one.

there is a script that will connect points with a line using a tolerance or "Distance" setting....


This can work in alot of situations, but obviously, in as "Cloud" of points, the human factor cant be scripted.....

The import window has the options to import the points as Points, Polyline, Control Pts, or Through Pts (interpcurve).

I believe that your points are in order.

yes the existing point import works. it's just i have to run it twice because you can't keep the points and curve fit them at the same time. i'm hoping there can be an update to it.

i'm afraid i don't understand the script you made. maybe if i try it, it will become clear.

Hi Anthony, I've attached a modified version of the ImportPointFile script which has been restructured to have checkbox options for the different types of entities to build so you can do more than one with a single import.
