Hello all! and Happy new year! :-)

I have a question or possible wish feature in Moi3D.

Is it possible to select a face of an object and then scale it using scale tools? to create new objects? just like the attached image?

Use Show Points + the Edit Frame
or Show Points + Scale ;)
Edit Frame

Select the 4 points

Call Scale 3D and as the video shows Click the face's center & a Point corner's face (in this order) and move your mouse...

Also there is no edit frame when u select only one face!

U know the philosophy behind Moi is speed! So I wish it was doable only by selecting the desired face!

(show points + selecting 4 points is less speedy than selecting one face and using "edit frame"

Yes but you don't select a face, you select 4 points of a face!
That is not the same! ;)

If you have only one face it would work!
But that is not your case : you have 6 faces "connected"

A variation without going to the Panel... :)
(you can enter scale directly to the numeric keyboard)

Method of Scale 2 clicks move mouse is more "artistic" with eyes appreciation ;)

Sure but result will be the same...and that is not working like this :)

ps You have taken "Thumb image" so not very readable - you must take "Full size"! :)

Hi Psygorn,
The example being shown will only work if used on untrimmed surfaces. As soon as you have trimmed surfaces, it doesn't work like that anymore.

So no, MoI doesn't have direct editing if NURBS trimmed surfaces.

It can be shown how you can create an object that allows you to move points around, but i dont think that's really what you're asking for...

Whether that gets added in for a future release, is a question answered by Michael...

For your last case you must use the Flow function! More cerebral...;)
With maybe some desagreaments :)

Create the geometry
Extrude
Separate the solid.
Select the points
Scale the points
Select and rejoin the planes to a solid.

You must return to my answer! :) (some problems with my recording)

About your boolean question you must post an image or better a 3 dm file !

And about all question always post minimum an image when it's for objects! :)

Dear wayne hill, I knew a different method :-)

and tanx for sharing yours, However, this is not what I meant! I wanted to see if it is possible just by selecting desired face you could scale the selected face (either by selecting the scale button or edit frame) and see the effect on the object real time!

All functions are not visible in real time!

For simulate that you must use the Nodal Elephant system by Max Smirnov
but it's some work more cerebral elaborated and time consuming! :)

In your case Merge will works with only a face + your closed curve! :)

Boolean Diff with this same Surface + Closed Curve will make a hole like expected in normal use (without Keep objects)...
