Why do objects disappear

Why do objects disappear after a boolean difference cut. It only happens if I try to cut the object lengthways. It is fine cutting across. It leaves the part I want removed and the remainder is gone. I have keep objects ticked before you ask!

Make sure you are booleaning solids and not joined surfaces (top right)!

Hi Gord, so yes what nameless writes above is to check the object type indicator here:

If that says "Surface" or "Joined srf" then it means your object is not a closed solid. Booleans are designed to work with closed solids, they determine which pieces to keep and which to discard based on what solid volume they are contained inside of.

If your base object is not a solid then you can get the kind of behavior you describe.

It's hard to say for sure that is the problem though, it's difficult to figure out just from a written description. If you can please post the .3dm model file with the objects in it that you are talking about that helps a lot.
