Will Moi3D support Apple Silicon?

Big event coming up on Tuesday and I haven’t bought a new computer since 2012.. just wondering if I should stick to Intel if I want get started with M3D in the future?

Hi markus, I have done some preliminary tests with porting one of the most complex libraries that MoI relies on (Qt framework) and that went pretty well. So I will likely be able to focus on that next year during the MoI v5 development cycle.

I cannot at this point 100% guarantee that it will be successful but it's looking good so far.

I'm not sure what the performance characteristics are going to be for 3D graphics on the new architecture, so there are still some things to find out about.

The Geekbench 5 scores for the new M1 powered Macs are starting to show up and look impressive (to me at least). Not sure if their OpenCL benchmark is relevant to MoI's use of the GPU. MacBookPro17,1 OpenCL showing around 19250, single core CPU 1719, multi-core 7377. Just a tad faster than my Late 2011 MPB... ;-}
