Hi everybody
...maybe a stupid question...

I can save blueprints from the net in gif, or bmp extension.
MoI can import editable curves, from eps, or pdf.
I, ve tried to convert my blueprint to eps with Gimp, also tried to convert to Pdf, with Pdf creator but the result was nothing:(

Is, it possible to convert bmb into eps, or Pdf, then import to Moi as an editable curve?

thanks Gyuri

Hi Gyuri,

> Is, it possible to convert bmb into eps, or Pdf, then import to Moi as an editable curve?

It is possible, but the complication is that both eps and PDF can also contain bitmaps inside of them as well as curve vector information.

Probably the conversions you are doing are resulting in embedded bitmaps inside the eps or PDF files.

You need a more specialized "vectorizer" program that will actually try to trace the outlines of your bitmap with curve objects, rather than just translating the bitmap over. I'm not really too familiar with these programs myself, but I think there are several different ones available, maybe someone else has some experience with some of them.

Also .eps files can sometimes more difficult for MoI to read, so you should try to convert to .ai or .pdf instead if that is possible.

Hi,
for MoiImport, PDF-File and AI-File needs vektordata info in the file.
Moi is not raster to vector converter.
Gimp produced rasterformat.

For vektor see:
www.mayura.com (Mayura Draw Vector Drawing Program)
www.deneba.com (Deneba Canvas)
www.inkscape.org (Inkscape, only svg)
www.adobe.com/de/products/illustrator (AI)

MS-Office, Open-Office ect....

You also might search for the phrase "Raster to vector" for some more information, here are some links:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raster_to_vector
http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/bitmaptovector/Bitmap_to_Vector_Conversion_Tracing_Software_Raster_to_Vector.htm

http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Tools#Vectorize.2Ftrace

I'd say probably try Inkscape at first...

If you're into cartooning, I hope you're familiar with Moho (now called "Anime Studio"):
http://my.smithmicro.com/win/animepro/index.html

I thought that it supported illustrator exports, but I see it only has Flash export.

Character construction and animation is very cool with this application however and I love the fact it's vector based and uses bones for animation.
