@ Corchet : En tout cas fonctionne parfaitement comme prémodeleur organique pour Moi! :)
OBJ was 50 000 Polys :)
(with _importObj by Max Smirnov)

Works fine as organic Pre modeler for Moi! :)

Hi Pilou, both of those are good examples of data that is not recommended to import into MoI because it is made up of a large number of little tiny flat facets.

That type of data should be opened in a polygon mesh editing program, not MoI. NURBS models like MoI is designed to work with do not function well with that type of geometry, you need to have a smaller number of faces that are made up of curved surfaces and not a dense amount of little flat planes.

If it was a good quality sub-d model that had edge loops flows (unlike your example) then you could import it into MoI with the new subd converter.

Yep...that was just for see if that was possible! ;)
The _import OBJ was acceptable in term of times!
The SubDiv native method was many many more time consuming! :)
The "trimming" of the sphere itself gives a funny graphic result!

But sure that is not a good piece to import inside MOi! :)

Hi Pilou, although it is possible to just load it, it's not possible in the sense that you don't get a useful result. A model like that in NURBS form (huge numbers of little flat facet pieces) will be very bloated, make for a large file size and will likely encounter many problems if you try to work with it in MoI the same way you would in a regular MoI model.

It's probably bad that the load actually works because that seems to indicate to some people that it is a good thing to do.

Hi Michael,

1+

Pilou could only be stopped to post such things if your forum software would charge
users for each post they make (except new users who just purchased a license),
because he thinks free means to post such nonsense and free means also for him
to always pollute your forum with so much off-topic stuff. As a non-modeling guy
he will probably never grow up ... :-(

Best regards
Stefan

It is also IMHO unpolite from some users to often post in French language in the *English* Forum Section.

Stefan

if you manage to extrude each poly in pointy shape ... you'll be the creator of the hairy system in moi ;)

pareil j'avais essayé ... il met une plombe pour importer ;)

Pilou said " En tout cas fonctionne parfaitement comme prémodeleur organique pour Moi! :) "

i remember an old modeler with perfect quad topo on export ... Silo ! website : nevercenter

not very expansive 99 dollars
many tutorials ... easy to use
IMHO a great tool to add with easy import in nurbs software

Anything from Rocket 3F (here without suddive who is also possible of course :)
And of course will be better if you have "quadrangular" facetts ;)

Without subdiv inside Moi then One subdive inside Moi

After more subdive inside Moi or any Nurbs operation

Start from cubic forms inside Rocket 3F if you are not enought satisfied by the SubDive tools yet existing of MOi! ;)

"Funny result"

Looks like the faces weren't joined, so it subdivided each face individually...

Pretty cool look.

Yes, it's just the option inside the SUbdivision when volume has not faces welded! (so separated)
Your can permit or not the SUbdivision...(preserve corners enabled or not)
Sorry the Plugin is in French even the UI is in English! :)
