Yes but it's cool to have the possibility to import one OBJ file directly and transfom it in Nurbs ... ;)

Hi Pilou,

I don't understand what you would be gaining here by making a poorly constructed Nurbs model.

If your OBJ file is made up of triangles and has much of the detail as textures on it, it's not going to convert very well. The converter is not intended to be used on that type of model data.

The type of data that can convert well is when the model in the OBJ file was constructed as a sub-d model, not as a triangle model.

So SubD for Quadrangles meshes, ImportObj for the rest if possible...no problem...
And normally today even triangles mesh can be converted in quads with same precision ?....

I find just magic that the mix should be possible (Poly/Nurbs) :)

Because make that in Nurbs is some painful...seems perfect inside moi!

Hi Pilou,

re:

I'd recommend SubD conversion for meshes that were built for sub-d smoothing, and for the rest use a polygon modeling program instead of MoI since it's not the right kind of data to use with MoI.

Yes but that can be also useful say for calculate ergonomy to put a human "poly" model inside a "nurbs" vehicle design model...
and if this human model can be also some realistic that will be better! :)

So I suppose this human model must be created in "SubD smoothing" as you said for more easy importation...
