Hi hflint2001, you can make cross section curves by drawing in a line, using Array Dir to replicate it, then using Construct > Curve > Project to project the lines onto the object. Make the lines off to one side so it will get a good default direction to project in, if you put the lines right in the middle of the objects it might want to project them upwards:
re: Views - there isn't any way to insert new viewports but you can switch any of the 2D views to the opposite one by clicking on its tab a second time. So for example to get the back view click once on the "front" tab in the bottom toolbar, then while it is active click again and it will switch to back. Do that again to switch back to front.
