Naming Construction Lines

Michael:
One of the most useful script to me is the Construction Line script. I use it a lot to mark boundaries of something I'm designing (for example this feature when drawn has to be exactly 2mm from that etc).

Since construction lines can be named--at last under script control-- is it possible modify the pop up that let's you relocate or reorient a line to let you name a line?

I wish clines could have labels on them that appear on screen, but that's for another version...

Thanks

Hi Scott, how about setting up this script on a shortcut key:

script: /* Set name of last created construction line */ var dlg = moi.ui.createDialog('EditNameDialog.htm?title=Choose name'); var name = dlg.window.doModal(); if ( name != -1 ) { var clines = moi.geometryDatabase.getObjects().getConstructionLines(); if ( clines.length > 0 ) clines.item(clines.length-1).name = name; }

If you trigger that after creating a construction line that should set its name.

Does the "Construction Line Script" (help lines permanent) is now native script inside the V 3 ?
If not where is the original ?

Hi Pilou, it's not a native script, it's an optional one that can be installed.

To find the original go to the MoI main page, then Resources, then follow the link for Petr's MoI page which lists several scripts there. The keep construction line script is there under the CLines section.

Seems you can also name a permanent Helper Line normally in the Up Window ?
So what is the different use of the "Name Plugin CLine" ?

Hi Pilou, not much I guess - I just assumed Scott was having a problem naming them since he asked for some way to do it.

Frenchy:
It was more about work flow. I wanted to drag out a cline, position it say 2mm off an edge and then name it. It's sometimes difficult to click on the right line when they are close to each other and to other objects. Naming it off a hotkey works though thanks--I liked the idea of giving them a name when created.
