Hi Kevin - that used to work in v2 as long as the projection generated one curve and not multiple separate curve pieces. It seems to have been broken along the way somewhere in v3, probably with some changes that helped narrow down some history relationships to help prevent history records from getting excessively large in data size when a large number of objects were selected as inputs in one single operation.
I'll investigate what is involved in fixing it. It's probably not a difficult fix but the difficulty will be that I don't have any upcoming release set up for the near future.
